There wasn't a trail on Westford Hill that he didn't explore on his four-wheeler. He was also an avid outdoors man enjoying hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. His favorite title was "Grampy-fix-it" as he would do anything he could to help out his children or grandchildren with any project. In his retirement years he enjoyed traveling around the country visiting with family, spending fifteen winters in Florida, he enjoyed working around their home on Westford Hill in Hodgdon. He said he could spot shoddy work with a glance. ![]() This led to his final job as an inspector for Dirigo Engineering, inspecting construction jobs around the state. This earned him a reputation of doing top quality work statewide. He worked for the company for 30 years ending his career as a Superintendent of the works. In 1968 he went to work for Brescia Construction as a bulldozer operator. He also at this time served 8 years in the Maine National Guard, stationed in Caribou, where he earned the rank of Sargent. There earning multiple awards for being a top salesman on his delivery route. First working for the town of Woodland, on the town Highway Dept., with his brother, Roland, after being fired for asking for a 5 cent an hour raise, he went to work for Grants Dairy as a Sale/Delivery driver. Gordon was preceded by his wife of 64 years, Reta Brown Anderson in 2020. 10, 2023, following a prolonged battle with aging.
